Premium Osage Orange Bow Stave SOLD

This beautiful, premium osage orange bow stave has been seasoned for 3 years and is ready to be made into a bow the moment it arrives at your door.  It is very clean with only 2 small pencil-sized knots along its back.  Most of the rough outer bark has been carefully peeled off.  This stave was dried with the utmost care, ensuring it has no drying cracks under the bark.  This will ensure the bow you make will have a pristine back (although drying cracks are purely cosmetic and do not affect the bow's performance or durability as long as they stay within the stave itself and don't run off the edge at an angle).  There are a few very small drying cracks on the ends, though these can easily be filled with super glue or Titebond wood glue, then sanded and sealed to ensure they don't split and are as strong as the wood itself.  This stave also is long enough and wide enough to be made into a bow exceeding 65 lbs in draw weight and capable of handling a 31 inch draw if the archer is exceptionally tall with a long draw.   

This stave has some slight, "snakey" bends when viewed from end-to-end.  This stave can be used as-is without straightening, although it could very easily be straightened with some very minor correcting with grease and heat if you so desire.  The separation (or spring growth) between growth rings is very thin, meaning a large percentage of this stave is comprised of the strong, "summer wood", resulting in a strong, fast, durable bow that will last longer than you do and will be capable of taking any big game animal you set your sights on.
